Jess Chelsea Elijah and Josh at the beach a few weeks ago. We hadn't camped on the beach for a while and the weather was nice so a bunch of us did. I decided to sleep outside a tent because it was going to get hot early. I woke up and was face down in the sand. I had so much sand all over my face and in my hair and mouth. And, as it turns out, it gets really hot outside the tents too, not just inside. I got a wicked sunburn that day too. It was a lot of fun though.

I bet Chelsea she wouldn't put on her wetsuit with a pair of my boxers on over it and run around this rest area on the way up into the mountains... i lost, but i got a few funny pictures out of it.

We camped here the second night of our trip from Taoyuan through Toucheng (where we always surf and spent our first night). The beach was rocky like this, we camped just up above it. The next day we drove further down the East coast and then up into the mountains. We passed through Ushan National Park, Ushan is the highest mountain in south east asia (it's higher than Mt. Fuji in Japan). We spent the night just outside of Alishan National Park and went up into Alishan the next day. Alishan is a lower mountain but has some easy hiking and a good area to view the sunrise from. It was nice there, we stayed in a really ghetto place. So the 5 girls I was traveling with and myself got one large room up in this woman's attic. Needless to say, we didn't spend much time in the place we were staying. The last day we spent driving back up the West coast. A good vacation!

taroko gorge - the overhang is too low on the left side there for buses to go under the rock, so they come onto the other side. makes for some interesting driving
